DTIYS Challenges: Draw This In Your Style Contests Open Now
DTIYS means "draw this in your style". An artist posts an original drawing and invites everyone to redraw it their own way. It's a friendly way to practice, try a new style and meet other artists, and some hosts give prizes. Below: how DTIYS works, the etiquette, and real DTIYS contests we checked on each host's own page.
Checked Oct 26, 2026 (Central time). Deadlines and prizes change, so the host's post always has the final say. We only list contests with public rules and leave out NSFW ones.
How to join a DTIYS
- Find a DTIYS from the list below, or search #DTIYS and #drawthisinyourstyle.
- Read the host's rules: deadline and time zone, where to post, the hashtag, and whether you need to follow the account.
- Redraw it in your style. Keep the character or composition recognizable, and change the style, colors, pose or setting however you like. No tracing, and no AI unless the host allows it.
- Post it with credit: tag the original artist, use their hashtag, and many artists post the original next to their version.
DTIYS etiquette
- Always credit the original artist, even after the deadline.
- Don't sell or print someone else's DTIYS character unless the host says you can.
- Keep it within the host's content rules (many say no NSFW or gore).
- Want to host your own? Share the original, the hashtag, a clear deadline with time zone, and any prizes.

DTIYS FAQ
What does DTIYS mean?
DTIYS stands for "draw this in your style". An artist shares an original piece and invites everyone to redraw it their own way, then tag the original artist.
Is DTIYS the same as tracing?
No. You redraw the piece from scratch in your own style. Tracing or copying the original line for line isn't allowed, and most hosts don't accept AI-generated entries either.
Do I need to credit the original artist?
Yes, always. Tag the host, use their hashtag, and say it's a DTIYS of their work. It's also how the host finds your entry.
Can I post my DTIYS if the deadline has passed?
Usually yes, as practice, as long as you credit the artist. Late entries just can't win a prize.
How do I host my own DTIYS?
Post an original piece, then list the hashtag, the deadline (with time zone), where to post, whether there are prizes, and any rules, such as no AI or no NSFW.
Where can I find more DTIYS challenges?
Search #DTIYS and #drawthisinyourstyle on Instagram, Bluesky, TikTok and art communities. Before entering, check the host's own post for the deadline and rules.
